Quarterly Grant Funding Awarded to Beech Holme Tandem Club
Each Quarter, we donate up to £250 to a charity or organisation nominated by a member of staff, and this quarter we are delighted to announce that our grant funding has been awarded to Beech Holme Tandem Club. A fantastic local charity that enables people living with sight loss to enjoy the freedom, friendship and wellbeing benefits of cycling.
The nomination was submitted by Jack, one of our ICT Field Engineers, who volunteers and serves on the club’s committee!
Why Beech Holme Tandem Club?
Beech Holme Tandem Club is a dedicated group of volunteers and cyclists who provide opportunities for people with sight loss to take part in tandem cycling. The club meets every Wednesday evening for rides to local venues, alongside occasional Sunday rides further afield, creating opportunities for exercise, social interaction and independence.
The funding will help support the club’s ongoing activities, including:
- Purchasing new tandem bicycles
- Essential repairs and maintenance of existing bikes
- Safety accessories such as lights and reflectors
- Training courses that support the club and its volunteers
The Foundation Ambassadors chose Beech Holme Tandem Club as we don’t currently have a sight loss charity on our sponsor/support books, they are just starting to get their online visibility off the ground and a member of our team is a passionate volunteer!
Jack their volunteer shared:
“This is close to my heart as I volunteer at the club and am part of their committee. I help out with the support minibus, which is always close by the group when they need assistance. The bus is also there for those who no longer ride and those who support the club from the sidelines.
I also assist visually impaired members during rides when they require support. In the past, I have taken part in a course that teaches people how to guide individuals with sight loss.”
