We're taking on the 'In my shoes' challenge to raise awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis

Posted on Nov 25, 2020.

In preparation for National Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness week several members of The One Point team are showing their support for ICT support assistant Jacob Hodgson, a Crohn’s sufferer, by taking on the ‘In My Shoes’ App challenge.

The challenges requires participants to live like a sufferer of Crohn’s or Colitis for a full 24 hours. The app will prompt them to make the kind of real decisions that a sufferer will need to make throughout every single day in an attempt to balance their energy, pain and mood.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK have teamed up with pharmaceutical company Takeda UK to create In My Shoes: 24 Hours with Crohn’s or Colitis - an immersive app that will allow anyone to experience first-hand what it’s like to have Crohn’s or Colitis.

From depleting energy levels to managing pain, from rushing to the toilet to juggling work and a social life, the app will allow friends, family and anyone you want, to see first- hand how the condition can affect every part of your body, and every aspect of your life.

Don’t worry - after 24 hours they can return to their normal lives. But they’ll do so with a deeper understanding and appreciation of what you have to go through every day.

All those participating will be sharing their experiences following the 24 hour period to help raise awareness as part of our ongoing support for the Crohn’s and Colitis UK charity.

We think this is a great way to build greater awareness of this invisible disability and think the app will help gain empathy for sufferers.

If you would like to try the app out for yourself it can be downloaded for free on both Apple and Android marketplaces.
