TOP launch commUNITY Telephone System throughout UK

The One Point have started to roll out its innovative commUNITY telephone system.  The hosted pbx telephone system is a robust, business standard telephony solution that places all users onto one easy to manage platform, regardless of location.  Already deployed in many locations across the UK, including Hull, the commUNITY telephone system allows businesses to port all of their existing telephone numbers from any UK carrier onto the platform.

Martin Lauer, Managing Director of The One Point said, "The commUNITY platform offers all of the traditional features of a digital telephone system and some.  The simplicity and cost savings are not the only key benefits.  It really comes into it own when it comes to call recording and complex numbering and routing solutions.  It is already popular, with a very busy order book - we are expecting big volumes.  We offer a 30 day money back guarantee and are happy to allow new customers to talk with existing customers as testimonial."

AWARDS: The One Point is in the running for a national award after beating competition from some of the biggest names in the industry.

The Hull company has been shortlisted in the Best Unified Comms Dealer category at the Mobile Industry Awards 2013.

The One Point was founded in 2003 by Martin Lauer as a mobile phone dealer and has since developed into a unified communications partner – namely, a comprehensive "one-stop shop" – providing IT services, fixed and hosted PBX telephone systems, lines, calls, mobiles and digital software CRM services.

"Along the way we have developed many new products, including Hull Broadband, The One Network, The One CRM and commUNITY."

In 2011, the One Point was named Mobile Industry Awards Dealer Of The Year.
Mr Lauer said that since its formation, the company had "recruited the best people, empowering them to do a good job and listening to customers feedback".

The winners will be announced in London on Thursday, June 6.

TOP win the Devils Kitchen crown

TOP win the Devils Kitchen crown

The One Point took on the Telecoms giant Kingston Communications last night in a rematch for the coveted Devil’s Kitchen Crown, in aid of The Smile Foundation.  Devil's Kitchen is a cooking competition that sees each company invite 40 guests, cook a three course meal and deliver front of house service throughout the evening.  The guests rate the food and service via score cards and the best average score wins.  Last night The One Point had the final say and won the coveted prize - but only by a tight margin - 0.4 of a score.

The kitchen was headed up by 2 head chefs - KC's Head of Business Alan Worthing, and The One Point's MD Martin Lauer.  There was a lot of banter and support given between the teams throughout the day and evening and all of the food left the kitchen on time.  A special thank you go to Dan and Kieron whose culinary expertise was tested to the max in order to keep us all under control and on time.  The One Point's Steve Graham took the best cooks out of The One Point’s Kitchen Team with Alan winning the overall prize on the night.

The front house teams also delivered brilliantly, keeping guest well fed and oiled.  TOP's Nicola Willingham won the Best Front of House team member also – for the second time running.

Tessa Wray from the Smile Foundation thanked the teams, “I just wanted to say well done to both Teams for last night - an enjoyable and ‘competitive’ evening for all (I think the guests were just as competitive!), with a fantastic £2,135 raised!!”

Martin Lauer, head Chef of TOP’s winning team said, “It was a tough day and we are very pleased to have won.  Everyone pulled together on the night.  KC were a brilliant team and we look forward to the next one!”

Today sees The One Point, Hull's independent IT and Telecom's firm, again take on the mightly KC, Hull's telecoms giant, in the re-match of Devil's Kitchen, in aid of the Smile Foundation, at the Holiday Inn on the Marina.

Both team will be pitting their culinary and front of house skills against one another in a bid to win the telecoms crown.

The re-match was set up following the last duel some 18 months ago where The One Point were not shown to have won by a clear point - it was that close!  Andy Barber offered a re-match and the two parties agreed.

Martin Lauer, MD of The One Point said; "We have an excellent working relationship with KC considering we are compeitors also.  We will have a lot of banter and a lot of fun if the last event was anything to go by.  Along the way our customers will will have a feast and we will raise plenty fo cash for the Smile Foundation - a charity we were founding partners of."

TOP sponsor ONE HULL OF A BOAT

TOP sponsor ONE HULL OF A BOAT

The One Point have joined a list of local Hull based companies to buy a BOAT!

Martin Lauer, Managing Director of The One Point said; "We love this type of initiative - someone just seeing a great opportunity and acting upon it.  Now we have a P1 Boat promoting our great City with our name on it - GREAT!"

On 1st and 2nd June 2013, the UK legs of the P1 Powerboat Championships start in Hull. Due to ‘logistical issues’ one of the powerboats literally missed the boat (to Dubai) leaving a spare boat in the UK. The lovely people at P1 announced at a Bondholder Breakfast Meeting that for £20,000, the spare boat could be ours... And there it began.

The outstanding business community in Hull, the Humber and East Yorkshire is now coming together to buy this boat. It’s not a big ask. We need 100 donations of £200. We’d also like a couple of the area’s larger businesses to make larger donations and become lead sponsors.

£20,000 will buy us a boat to compete in the five UK legs of the P1 Powerboat Championships. It will have our own unique brand, expertly designed by the clever people at H&H , and will promote our amazing story in every destination. Sky Sports will be broadcasting the races, and local media coverage is already taking off.

In 2010 VHEY reported that the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race brought approximately 70,000 extra visitors to Hull. Hull’s businesses benefited greatly, the local economy saw a truly positive benefit of hosting such a momentous event, and the media coverage went global. This is our opportunity to do it again.
